Statement of Faith

This “Statement of Faith” is an abridged version of the doctrinal stand of Grace and Truth Church, and is agreed by the founding trustees, elders, deacons and members of the Church both fully and completely. Grace and Truth Church believes in the following key doctrines required for the definition and functioning of the Church. Please write to Grace and Truth Church for expanded version of Statement of Faith.

  1. There is only one true God an Infinite, Sovereign, all-knowing Spirit who is Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent, and Perfect in all His attributes, eternally existing in three Persons as – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead– each equally deserving worship and obedience.

  2. The Bible is God’s written revelation to man, and thus all the Sixty-Six books of the Bible given to us by the Holy Spirit constitute the plenary Word of God. The Word of God is an objective, propositional revelation, verbally inspired in every Word, inerrant in the original documents, infallible, and God-breathed.

  3. Man, was directly and immediately created by God in His image and likeness. Man, was created free of sin with a rational nature, intelligence, volition, self-determination and moral responsibility to God.

  4. The first man Adam, and his sin of disobedience to the revealed will and Word of God, made man lose his innocence; and incurred the penalty of Spiritual and physical death; became inherently corrupt and utterly incapable of choosing or doing that which is acceptable to God apart from divine Grace.

  5. Satan is a created angel and the author of sin. He incurred the judgment of God by rebelling against his creator, by taking numerous angels with him in his fall and by introducing sin into human race by his temptation of Eve.

  6. Salvation is wholly of God by Grace based on the redemption through Jesus Christ, the merit of His shed blood, and not based on human merit or works. The plan of salvation is the complete work of the Triune God, with God the father willing it, God the Son, sacrificing on the cross, and God the Holy Spirit in regeneration.

  7. Justification before God is an act of God by which He declares righteous those who, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent of their sins and confess Him as sovereign Lord and believes in the resurrection of Lord Jesus from the dead.

  8. The work of the Holy Spirit is to make the death of Jesus Christ effective in a believer, regenerate the sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living, bringing obedience to the Word of God.

  9. All who place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are immediately placed by the Holy Spirit into one united Spiritual body, the church, the bride of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by building itself up in the faith, by instruction of the Word, by fellowship, by keeping the ordinances and by advancing and communicating the gospel to the entire world.

  10. Lord Jesus gives the church Spiritual gifts, for equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. We as a church believe in the practice of gifts such as - teaching, faith, helping or ministering, Leading/Administration, Evangelism, being a pastor, Encouragement, giving & showing mercy. Miraculous gifts and speaking in tongues are inactive and can even be counterfeited by Satan to deceive even believers.

  11. God calls qualified men, who meet the biblical standard of eldership to serve church as Elders, Deacons and Ministers of the Word. Women are not to be pastors or elders and are not to hold positions of spiritual authority in the Church where authority is exercised over men.

  12. Christian baptism by immersion is a solemn and beautiful testimony of a believer showing forth his faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, and his union with Him in death to sin and resurrection to a new life. Baptism is not to be regarded as means of salvation or necessary for salvation.

  13. The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration and proclamation of His death until He comes and should always be preceded by solemn self-examination. Participation in the Lord’s Supper is only for born again Christian believers.

  14. There is only one physical life and one physical death for man. Physical death involves no loss of our immaterial consciousness, there is separation of soul and body at death and the soul of the redeemed passes immediately into the presence of Christ.

  15. The Lord Jesus Christ will return bodily and visibly from heaven to earth with great glory and majesty to translate His church from this earth. Christ will come to earth to occupy the throne of David and establish His messianic kingdom for a thousand years on the earth. Post millennium, Satan and unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone. God will create a new earth and a new heaven where righteousness dwells.
